Questions to Ask BEFORE Hiring Your Brand Photographer
Brand Photography is considered an investment for a reason. When you start filling your website and social media with professional images that are personal to your brand, you'll instantly instill confidence in your audience! Confident audience = more sales!
Here are a few tips on what to ask a brand photographer during your discovery call to inspire confidence in your investment and make sure they are THE ONE for the job:
Do you plan, style and direct the session?
Just showing up to shoot is not a good strategy. By taking the time to learn about your brand, aesthetics and the goal of the photoshoot, your brand photographer will be ready to create intentional images that reflect your style & your brand.
My process consists of client-intake, shot list and style guide creation based on the needs and visuals that client presented, as well as lots and lots of direction during the shoot. Being in front of the camera is already stressful enough for most, I try to make it super easy and comfortable for my clients to be relaxed and trust the process by talking through what I am doing, why we are doing it this way and also showing back of the camera captures as we move along. Feedback from the client during the shoot is essential to a successful session.
How long after the session can I expect image delivery?
Production times vary greatly from company to company. Most photographers I have ever worked with offered a 2-4 week turnaround timeframe. But if you have a launch date or a deadline you must have photos back by, definitely communicate that to your photographer. Sometimes additional edits may be needed to clean up certain images which may prolong the delivery. So having those expectations outlined clearly helps everyone stay on the same page and stress free.
My unique strategy helps me deliver your photos in days, not months. Because I take the time to strategically prep for our session, you'll be able to start sharing your photos in no time!
Do you have a location permit to shoot commercial photography?
Often overlooked, location permission is an important piece of the puzzle that is commercial photography. Much like having a commercial-specific service agreement, and model release, your brand photographer should have a written permission to shoot on whatever premises you decide to shoot at. Of course this does not apply to their OWN office space, home office or photography studios. However, if they rent an office space from someone else, the owner of the building should give their written permission for the shoot. Last thing you want is to invest time and money into images that you simply aren’t able to use!
